Read Proverbs 31:10-31
ReplyDeleteThis is to encourage all women to become virtuous women. Emphasizes the ability of the Proverbs 31 woman to center her entire life around her relationship with God, not to define herself by her life situation.
Virtuous is described as being good, righteous, worthy, honorable, moral, upright, and honest.
Strong’s Hebrew dictionary defines “chayil” (virtuous) as power or great strength
Did you ever hear any of these remarks or messages growing up, or even now:
Lose weight Don’t be a show off
Assert yourself Never ask for what you want
Don’t be pushy Speak your mind.
Be smart Guys won’t like you if you ________
Don’t be too smart Guys won’t like you unless you_________
Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:10)
The ideal woman according to the world is:
Independent, confident , and self-reliant. Up to date with the latest fashions ( of course all in size 4)And donns a to-die for haircut that screams ”sassy”! Professional, assertive, witty and personable. She can manage a home, career and family. She never complains. She is superwoman! Beauty, brains and a great body!
God’s idea is different:
Virtue must first begin in the heart. We desperately need to fill our hearts and minds with God’s real standard to be a virtuous woman.
You are who you have been becoming.
Becoming a virtuous woman is a lifelong journey, not a quick fix. So do not get discouraged and give up. Let’s get the right attitude, we are all in this together and God is patient and a loving God of grace and mercy who understands. He doesn’t expect perfection, nor does He expect overnight results. All He asks of us is that we have teachable spirits and receptive hearts.
Read Matthew 13:1-23
Father, as You plant within our hearts the knowledge of what it is to be virtuous women, help us not only to be receptive to Your teaching, but responsive as well.
